A 34-year-old woman, Sanni Adeola, has been arraigned before the Ogba Magistrate Court in Lagos for allegedly printing 64 fake National Identification Number (NIN) slips with her own photograph but different names, and using them to fraudulently obtain mobile phones worth N11.96 million.
The incident reportedly took place between March 2024 and June 2025 at M-KOPA Company, located at the LSDPC Shopping Complex in the Agege area of Lagos.
According to police investigations, Adeola allegedly used the forged NIN documents to deceive the company over several months, successfully acquiring 64 Samsung and Nokia phones under false identities. Her activities came to light after M-KOPA noticed irregularities and reported the matter to the Pen Cinema Police Division, which led to her arrest.
She was charged with two counts of identity fraud and theft under the Lagos State Criminal Law of 2015.

Adeola pleaded not guilty to both charges.
The prosecuting officer, Inspector Lucky Ihiehie, requested a hearing date to allow the prosecution to present evidence in court.
Presiding Magistrate Mrs. M.O. Tanimola granted Adeola bail in the sum of N1 million, with two sureties in like sum. The sureties must provide proof of employment or means of livelihood and valid tax clearance. Their addresses are also to be verified by the court.
The case has been adjourned for mention, and Adeola has been remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre until she meets her bail conditions.
