President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday received the Governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah, in audience at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where both leaders held discussions on matters of mutual interest concerning national development and the South-East region.
Although details of the closed-door meeting were not immediately disclosed, sources at the State House said the discussion centered on economic growth, security, and ongoing federal projects in Enugu and across the South-East.
Governor Mbah, who is also the chairman of the National Economic Council (NEC) Committee on the Overhaul of Security Training Institutions, is believed to have briefed the President on the progress made by the committee since its inauguration earlier this month.
The committee, constituted by the NEC and chaired by Mbah, was tasked with developing a blueprint for modernizing training facilities for the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies nationwide, in line with President Tinubu’s directive to strengthen national security capacity.
During the meeting, the Enugu State governor was also expected to present updates on his administration’s development initiatives, including efforts to attract investments, expand infrastructure, and enhance economic cooperation with the Federal Government.
State House officials described the meeting as cordial and productive, noting that it reflects the President’s continued engagement with state governors on strategies to deepen subnational development and strengthen the federation’s economic framework.

Governor Mbah, who has been a strong advocate for economic diversification and private sector-led growth, has repeatedly emphasized Enugu’s readiness to align with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly in areas of technology, infrastructure, and human capital development.
The meeting underscores the administration’s drive to foster collaboration between the federal and state governments to deliver inclusive growth and sustainable development across Nigeria.
Photographs released by the State House showed President Tinubu warmly welcoming Governor Mbah at his office, where they exchanged pleasantries before proceeding to a private discussion.
