President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday held a strategic meeting with the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, and the Special Adviser on Agricultural and Intervention Programmes, Ademola Adenle, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, as the Federal Government intensifies efforts to address rising food prices and strengthen national food security systems.
At the meeting, President Tinubu received briefings on ongoing agricultural interventions, including plans to expand mechanised farming, accelerate food production across key staples, and support farmers through improved access to inputs, credit, and irrigation facilities. The discussions also covered emergency programmes designed to cushion the effects of food shortages and inflation on vulnerable households nationwide.
The President reiterated his administration’s resolve to prioritise food affordability and security as a cornerstone of the Renewed Hope Agenda, directing the ministry to fast-track implementation timelines, deepen collaboration with states, and ensure transparency in subsidy and intervention channels.

Minister Kyari assured the President of the ministry’s continued commitment to boosting agricultural productivity, noting that large-scale cultivation schemes, fertiliser distribution, and value-chain initiatives already underway will yield measurable results in the coming months. He further highlighted ongoing partnerships with private-sector players to improve storage, processing, and market access.
Adenle’s presence underscored the government’s focus on targeted support programmes aimed at stabilising food supply and strengthening rural communities. He said intervention efforts would be aligned with broader economic recovery initiatives to ensure sustainable food production and reduced post-harvest losses.
The meeting comes as Nigeria navigates persistent food inflation and heightened demand for domestic production amid global supply disruptions. Further details of the president’s directives were not disclosed at press time.
