Tinubu Holds Closed-Door Security Meeting With Service Chiefs in Abuja

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday held a closed-door meeting with Nigeria’s Service Chiefs at the Presidential Villa in Abuja to review the country’s current security situation and ongoing military operations nationwide.

Those in attendance included the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede; Chief of Army Staff, Major General Waidi Shaibu; Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Kennedy Aneke; and Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Idi Abbas. The National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, was also present at the high-level meeting.

Although details of the discussions were not disclosed to the press, Presidency sources said the meeting focused on assessing progress in counterterrorism operations in the North-East, anti-banditry campaigns in the North-West, and maritime security in the Gulf of Guinea. The session also reportedly addressed recent concerns over rising cases of kidnapping, oil theft, and communal violence across several states.
