President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended warm felicitations to renowned journalist and former presidential adviser, Dr. Reuben Abati, on his 60th birthday, describing him as a patriotic intellectual and an outstanding contributor to national discourse.

In a statement issued on Thursday, President Tinubu praised Dr. Abati’s distinguished career as a writer, broadcaster, and public affairs analyst whose works have shaped public understanding of governance, politics, and society.

The President noted that Abati, who turns 60 on November 7, 2025, has demonstrated remarkable excellence and integrity across multiple fields, from academia to journalism and public service.

“A public intellectual, author, columnist, law graduate, and broadcaster, Dr. Abati has distinguished himself wherever he has traversed,” President Tinubu said. “His insightful articles and television analyses have continued to enlighten and inspire.”

Tinubu commended Abati for his service to the nation as Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to former President Goodluck Jonathan, acknowledging his professionalism and dedication during his time in government.

He also lauded Abati’s ongoing commitment to public engagement through the media, describing him as a voice of reason whose analyses continue to enrich Nigeria’s democratic conversation.

“Dr. Abati’s patriotism and passion as a commentator who brings creativity, versatility, and experience to national issues are noteworthy,” Tinubu stated.

The President congratulated Abati on the presentation of three new books to mark his milestone birthday — “Portraits: People, Politics and Society,” “A Love Letter and Other Stories,” and “How Goodluck Jonathan Became President.”

He noted that the books reflect Abati’s intellectual depth and his enduring contribution to literature, journalism, and political thought in Nigeria.

Joining the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE), family, and friends in celebrating the veteran journalist, Tinubu prayed for his continued health and inspiration.

“On this special occasion, I pray that Almighty God grant him longer life, good health, and the grace to continue serving the nation and humanity,” the President added.

Dr. Abati currently serves as a television anchor and columnist, widely respected for his thought-provoking commentary and decades-long influence on Nigeria’s media landscape.
