Nigerian singer and songwriter Seyi Shay has opened up on the real reason behind her long-standing rift with fellow music star, Tiwa Savage, revealing that a former personal assistant was at the centre of their feud.
Speaking in a recent interview, the “Right Now” and “Yolo Yolo” crooner explained that the misunderstanding between her and Tiwa Savage was not rooted in professional rivalry, as many had speculated, but rather in a personal issue involving betrayal.
According to Seyi Shay, her former assistant, who was working closely with her at the time, was secretly having an affair with Tiwa Savage’s estranged husband, Tunji Balogun, popularly known as TBillz. She said the affair eventually came to light, creating tension and suspicion that affected her relationship with the “Somebody’s Son” hitmaker.

“I didn’t even know my PA was sleeping with her husband,” Seyi Shay recounted. “It was a very messy situation because Tiwa thought I knew, but I didn’t. That was how everything started between us.”
The singer noted that the misunderstanding escalated when rumours began circulating in the entertainment industry, deepening the rift between the two female artists who were once on cordial terms.
Their strained relationship became public knowledge in 2021 after both singers engaged in a heated argument inside a Lagos salon, a confrontation that was captured on video and went viral on social media.
Reflecting on that incident, Seyi Shay said the altercation was the culmination of years of unresolved tension. She expressed regret over how things played out, admitting that the feud negatively affected her emotionally and professionally.
While Seyi Shay did not disclose whether the two artists have reconciled, she hinted at being in a better emotional space now and ready to move forward.
“I’ve grown, I’ve learned, and I’ve let go. I’m not holding any grudges anymore,” she said, emphasizing her focus on peace and personal growth.
