Popular American Twitch streamer and content creator, Kai Cenat, has arrived in Lagos for his second visit to Nigeria, reigniting public interest in his long-promised $5 million school project for underprivileged children.
Cenat touched down at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport on Wednesday, where he was welcomed with live music and a festive reception that quickly went viral across social media platforms.
Nearly a year after his first visit, the streamer’s pledge to build a school for children in the Makoko waterfront community remains in progress. Initial delays were linked to land acquisition challenges and regulatory issues within the floating settlement. As a result, the project site was relocated to Yaba, an area with more stable infrastructure.
Despite the change in location, Cenat has assured supporters that children from Makoko will still benefit from free education once the school is completed.
During his recent Mafiathon 3 livestream, Cenat revealed that over $1 million has already been raised for the initiative. He explained that funds would be released in phases to ensure long-term sustainability, stressing his commitment to building a durable and impactful educational institution rather than rushing the project.
His return has generated renewed enthusiasm among Nigerian fans, many of whom hope the visit will lead to visible progress on the ground. However, some social media users continue to call for clearer timelines and more transparency regarding construction activities.
As part of his visit, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu hosted Cenat at the Lagos House, Marina, on Wednesday. The meeting was disclosed by the Governor’s Senior Special Assistant on New Media, Jubril A. Gawat, in a post shared on X.
According to Gawat, the globally recognised streamer discussed his experiences in Lagos and his plans for projects and initiatives aimed at supporting children and young people in the state. However, details of his schedule and specific engagements were not disclosed.

Kai Cenat remains one of the world’s most influential streamers, boasting millions of followers across Twitch and YouTube, where his content attracts a large youth audience.
His visit comes shortly after fellow American streamer IShowSpeed toured Lagos, drawing massive crowds and viral attention. The back-to-back visits highlight Nigeria’s growing influence in global digital culture and entertainment.
With Cenat back in Lagos, public attention remains focused on whether his second visit will translate into concrete steps toward delivering the ambitious school project and fulfilling his pledge to support vulnerable children in the country.
