The Nigerian social media community is in deep mourning following the death of popular influencer and writer Anderson Damisa, widely known as LazyWrita.

The news of his passing broke through a chilling scheduled post on his Instagram page, where he explicitly stated his intention to end his life, citing mental exhaustion and a lack of energy to continue.

In the lengthy and emotional post, Anderson addressed his loved ones and followers, asking them not to grieve but to celebrate the adventurous life he lived. He revealed that he had already deleted his other social media accounts, leaving only a final message to prevent “false narratives.”

In the post, he described himself as “happy, unburdened and free,” while bidding farewell to close friends and a former lover, whom he urged not to feel guilty or blame themselves for his decision.

Damisa also revealed that he had deleted all his social media accounts, explaining that the final post was intended to prevent misinformation about his state of mind.

In the months before his death, the internet personality opened up about taking a step back from social media and his mental health.

“October really put me through it, mentally, emotionally, and in ways I didn’t see coming,” he penned the creator in an Oct. 31 post. “Some days felt heavy and some lessons hit too hard, but I kept pushing through. I learned about patience, discipline, and the kind of strength that only shows up when life tests you.”

In a Nov. 10 post, Damisa acknowledged that he had been quieter than usual on social media, admitting that friends had been asking why he had “disappeared” online and “in life too.”

“It got to a time everything felt too loud and I just couldn’t keep up anymore. The things that used to bring me joy started to feel heavy, and even the simplest moments lost their spark,” explained Damisa. “So I stepped away, to breathe, to remember who I was beneath all the noise. I took a pause long enough to feel alive again.”

After news of the influencer’s death became public, his friend, who goes by “theonlydolapoo” on Instagram, reposted Damisa’s final post to his Instagram Stories, adding the text, “Mental health matters. Please speak to someone. Rest in peace brother 🤍🕊️.”
