Three young women have accused a man of physically assaulting them during a night out at a nightclub in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, leaving one with a bloodied head, another with a broken tooth, and the third allegedly stripped and thrown down a staircase.
The incident, which reportedly occurred at the Black Box nightclub, has sparked outrage online and call for justice after the women shared videos detailing their ordeal.
In one of the clips, the women said they had booked a table at the club to celebrate a friend’s birthday when the man confronted them, claiming they were recording him without consent.
“Now the only thing we did wrong is to go out as girls. That’s the only thing we did wrong. So is every girl in Nigeria a prostitute?” one of the girls said, showing visible injuries to her scalp, which she said were caused by a bottle allegedly smashed on her head during the altercation.
Another woman said they had paid to reserve a table and were seated when the man, accompanied by security personnel, forcefully occupied their space.
“He said if they born me well, I should sit in the seat I paid for,” she said.
She added, “This man and his friends started breaking bottles. Injured my friend, they broke her head. She was bleeding so badly. The other of my friend they broke her teeth. One of her teeth was like it had gone off.
“Me myself they pushed me downstairs. Stripped me off, stripped me naked. Like beating me mercilessly. As if I was one that stole something. All because he came with a MOPOL. He came with bodyguards or whatsoever.”
The third woman, visibly missing a front tooth in the video, called on human rights groups to intervene.

“They need to get those men. Because young girls these days can’t even go out and just be secured,” she said.
The women alleged that the man involved was a regular at the club and had previously been accused of similar behaviour.
The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed that it is investigating the matter.
In a post on X, the command said, “The DPO within that jurisdiction has expedited action by inviting the hotel manager and the alleged suspect to his office for immediate investigation. I would also like to use this medium to invite the victims involved to come forward and make their statements.”

Meanwhile, a human rights group has stepped in to support the women.
The Rivers State Director of Behind Bar Human Rights Foundation, Adebayo Steve, told PUNCH Online that two of the victims had visited the police station on Friday, while the other two are still receiving treatment.
“I just left the police station with the girls now, two of them, we are scheduled to come back on Monday because two of the ladies, they are four in number, are still in the hospital receiving treatment, hopefully they will be available by Monday,” he said.
Steve also confirmed that neither the nightclub owner nor the alleged attacker showed up at the station.
Sharing his view on the matter, he said, “Personally, I have not heard from the man but no matter what the girls might have done, that does not mean he can inflict such body harm on them.”
Online, Nigerians have continued to express anger and frustration, with many calling for the man’s arrest and prosecution.
An Instagram user with the username Firstlaidii, wrote “The club should be reported too!!! Cos they could have avoided this rubbish.
“There are some clubs you go to , anytime any man misbehaves around a lady, they bounce him out immediately.”
Another user, simplysuzi, wrote, “What happened is violent assault, plain and simple!!!
“The fact that a man couldn’t handle a polite boundary or rejection and responded with extreme violence shows deep-rooted entitlement, misogyny, and a complete lack of accountability.
“It doesn’t matter how rich or ‘high-status’ he is money doesn’t excuse abuse.”
Advocacy pages and influencers have amplified calls for justice as they continue to share the victims’ videos.
