The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has filed a suit seeking the forfeiture of Proxy Night Club, located in Ikorodu, Lagos State, for allegedly hosting a drug party in violation of Nigeria’s narcotics laws.

The agency disclosed that its operatives raided the nightclub earlier this month following intelligence reports that the facility was being used for the sale and consumption of illicit substances during an all-night event.

According to NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, several suspects were arrested during the operation, and quantities of illegal drugs were recovered from the premises. The suspects are currently undergoing investigation.

“The NDLEA has approached the Federal High Court in Lagos, seeking an order for the forfeiture of the property to the Federal Government as it was used to facilitate drug-related activities,” Babafemi stated.

He added that the move aligns with the agency’s commitment to dismantling drug networks and enforcing laws against establishments that aid narcotics trafficking or abuse.

The NDLEA has also warned hospitality business owners to ensure their facilities are not used for criminal activities, stressing that ignorance will not be accepted as a defense.

“This should serve as a clear warning to operators of lounges, bars, and nightclubs across the country the NDLEA will not hesitate to seal and confiscate any property linked to drug abuse or distribution,” the statement read.

The case has been filed before the Federal High Court in Lagos and is expected to be heard in the coming days.
