According to the San Diego Police Department, 61-year-old Irene Williams and 57-year-old Albert Turner had been dating for some time, but got into an argument Monday evening, May 12.
According to police, Williams started throwing Turner’s belongings off the balcony of a third-floor apartment in the 500 block of West San Ysidro Boulevard. Turner then allegedly grabbed Williams and threw her off the balcony, onto the concrete below, according to authorities.
“At some point, Williams began throwing Turner’s belongings over the railing of the balcony corridor,” police said in a news release, then he “then threw Williams over the railing onto the concrete below.
Witnesses near the apartment called police at 7:21 p.m., and reported they had seen someone throw the woman off the balcony.
When officers arrived, they found Williams in the building’s courtyard with severe head trauma and a broken leg. She was taken to a nearby hospital, but was later pronounced de@d.
Officers arrested the victim’s boyfriend, 57-year-old Albert Turner, at the scene of the alleged homicide, which took place during an argument between him and Williams inside the apartment, according to police.
“I see her around all the time,” a neighbor told NBC 7 on Tuesday. “She’s just a frail, little old lady. He was big, you know, muscular — you know, he was a big guy.”
The neighbor said Turner had been living in the apartment with Williams for “the last 30 days.”
Turner was taken into custody and booked on suspicion of murd£r, being a felon in possession of a firearm and violating probation.
He is currently being held without bail in the San Diego Central Jail, according to custody records.
