Lookman agrees five-year contract deal with Inter Milan

Super Eagles attacker, Ademola Lookman, has reportedly already agreed personal terms on a five-year contract with Inter Milan.

Sky Sport reported yesterday that the Atalanta superstar has agreed personal terms with the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League finalists, adding that the Serie A runners-up have started negotiations with the 2023/24 Europa Cup champions.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, an Italian journalist, “Inter are serious about Lookman, agreement with the player, €40m ready for Atalanta,”

“Atalanta are asking for at least €50m, but Inter do not intend to go beyond their proposal,” Di Marzio added.

“The player has already given his approval to the transfer, which is why the Champions League runners-up are keen to avoid prolonged negotiations. If talks drag on, Inter may decide to move on to other targets, including Nico Gonzalez.” Di Marzio said.

Inter Milan, which defeated FC Barcelona over two legs to qualify for last season’s UEFA Champions League final, has been rebuilding their squad following a recent decline in their performance.

The team lost 0-4 to PSG in the UEFA Champions League final and lost 0-2 to Brazil’s Fluminense in the round of 16 at the FIFA Club World Cup. Under new coach, Christian Chivu, Inter Milan look to rebound in the 2005/26 after losing their Serie A crown to Napoli.

Reports revealed that the Nigerian would earn around €4 million net per season, whilst Inter want to sign him in time for their preseason training camp.

Despite Atalanta’s €50 million asking price, the Cristian men are confident that they can sign Lookman on more favorable terms.

Furthermore, that figure wouldn’t require additional sales. Moreover, Inter have already accelerated talks with the player’s camp, laying the groundwork for the transfer.

However, convincing Atalanta to give up their standout performer could be the tricky part. Lookman’s seal of approval puts the Nerazzurri in a strong bargaining position, but it may not be enough. Indeed, they’d still need Atalanta’s goodwill.

Lookman, who has previously turned out for the likes of Everton, RB Leipzig, Fulham, and Leicester City, is prepared to sign a contract worth €4 million net per season in wages.

Inter also have Lois Openda, Nicolas Gonzalez, Jadon Sancho, and Christopher Nkunku on their radar. But Lookman is the dream signing.
