Former Governor of Oyo State, Rashidi Ladoja has been nominated as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadan land.
Ladoja was nominated by the Olubadan-In-Council on Monday, during a meeting at the Olubadan Palace in Oke-Aremo, Ibadan North Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The nomination was officially moved by the Balogun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola, and seconded by Oba Eddy Oyewole, the Osi Olubadan, during a meeting held at the Olubadan Palace in Oke‑Aremo, Ibadan North LGA.
At the session, Balogun Ajibola affirmed, “All members of the Council have signed and nominated Oba Rashidi Ladoja as the new Olubadan of Ibadanland”

“We will forward the resolutions of our meeting to our Governor, Seyi Makinde. He will now pick a date to present a staff of Office to the new Olubadan.
“The late Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, will be buried this week. So, this week is not feasible.
“He (Makinde) may decide to pick three weeks, two weeks or one week.”
The nomination was a result of the completion of the 21-day mourning period for the late Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, who died on July 7, 2025, after reigning for one year.
Traditionally, Ibadan’s chieftaincy succession alternates between the civil (Egbe Agba) and military (Balogun) lines. As of 2025, Ladoja held the prestigious Otun Olubadan title the highest position in the civil line, making him the next rightful candidate following the passing of Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, the 43rd Olubadan, on July 7, 2025
