The confusion stems from a press briefing held by the Ghana Police Service on Friday, May 9, 2025, during which authorities confirmed the arrest of a 31-year-old suspect named Peter Okoye in connection with a kidnapping ring. According to the police, the victims—Anastasia Baidoo Arthur and Evelyn Konadu—were allegedly abducted by Nigerians posing as suitors in fake marriage arrangements.

The suspects listed by the Ghanaian police include: Peter Okoye (31), Paulinus Chidokwe (35), Chinoso Okafor (35) and Christian Emeka.

While investigations continue, Mr P has reiterated his call for media outlets and authorities to avoid misidentification, especially when reporting on individuals with common names.

Fans and fellow celebrities have since taken to social media to support Mr P and demand accurate reporting to prevent reputational damage.
