Humanitarian agencies are issuing dire warnings as famine tightens its grip on Gaza, where ongoing conflict and blockades have brought the territory’s food systems to the brink of total collapse. Aid organizations say the population is “wasting away,” with malnutrition and hunger-related deaths rising sharply, especially among children.

Medical facilities are overwhelmed and ill-equipped to respond, with shortages of food, clean water, and basic supplies leaving doctors helpless. “Children are arriving at clinics severely underweight, some barely conscious,” said a spokesperson for Médecins Sans Frontières. “We are witnessing an avoidable tragedy unfold in real time.”

The United Nations and several international NGOs are urgently calling for an immediate ceasefire and unrestricted humanitarian access to Gaza. Despite multiple appeals, aid deliveries remain sporadic and insufficient, hindered by damaged infrastructure and strict military controls.

“This is not just a humanitarian emergency—it’s a moral failure,” said UN Humanitarian Coordinator Martin Griffiths. “Without immediate action, the death toll will rise not from bombs, but from starvation.” As global pressure builds, humanitarian groups stress that time is rapidly running out to prevent an irreversible disaster.
