FC Barcelona’s pre-season preparations have been overshadowed by a stunning rift between two of the club’s most promising young stars, with reports suggesting that Gavi has demanded the sale of longtime friend and teammate Fermin López following a heated bust-up.
The tension between the two La Masia graduates, whose friendship dates back to their teenage years, has reportedly escalated in recent days, nearly culminating in a physical altercation.
According to Spanish outlet SPORT, the feud stems from ongoing personal issues specifically, friction between their respective girlfriends, whose strained relationship is said to have spilled over into the players’ own dynamic.
The situation took a turn on Gavi’s 21st birthday last week when Fermin allegedly failed to acknowledge the occasion — a gesture, or lack thereof, that didn’t go unnoticed. However, the real flashpoint came on Wednesday night, when Fermin posted a cryptic black-and-white photo of himself kneeling in celebration, followed by a scathing Instagram story that appeared to aim directly at someone within the club.

“Bad people never win, nor those who look the other way, nor those who make betrayal their way of life and cowardice their banner,” the post read. “It’s only a matter of time. They lose every day because the makeup they cover themselves with every morning, sooner or later, fades away, and they end up revealing themselves to the world as they really are.”
While Fermin didn’t name names, the timing and tone of the message left little doubt in the minds of fans and insiders. Sources suggest it was a direct response to Gavi’s alleged demand, made to club adviser Alejandro Echevarría, to have Fermin placed on the transfer list — a move that reportedly blindsided the midfielder and prompted the Instagram outburst.
The feud has left the club’s hierarchy facing a delicate situation as they attempt to maintain squad harmony ahead of the new La Liga season. While no official statement has been made by the club or the players, insiders claim the relationship between the two is “beyond repair.”
