The Federal Government has unveiled plans to launch a digital portal aimed at strengthening global collaboration with Nigerian tertiary institutions.

In a statement issued Wednesday by the Federal Ministry of Education and signed by its Director of Press, Folasade Boriowo, the ministry said the portal is designed to connect Nigerian researchers and academics in the diaspora with universities and other higher education institutions across the country.

The portal is scheduled for official launch on Monday, July 28, 2025, by Vice President Kashim Shettima, alongside the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Alausa.

“The Diaspora BRIDGE, an acronym for Bridging Research, Innovation, Development, and Global Engagement, is a strategic digital initiative designed to connect Nigerian professionals and academics in the diaspora with tertiary education and research institutions across the country. It is part of the Ministry’s broader agenda to foster innovation, strengthen institutional capacity, and position Nigeria’s education sector as a hub for global knowledge exchange.

“The platform will enable diaspora experts to register their profiles, highlight areas of specialisation, and collaborate directly with Nigerian universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and research institutions. At the same time, local institutions will be able to signal specific areas of need and initiate structured, demand-driven partnerships.

“Equipped with advanced tools for virtual collaboration, academic matchmaking, and project tracking, the Diaspora BRIDGE platform also integrates seamlessly with existing government systems such as the TERAS platform, enhancing transparency, alignment, and measurable outcomes.”
