FG announces vacancy for political, humanitarian affairs expert in Afghanistan

The Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced a vacancy for the position of Expert in Political and Humanitarian Affairs at the Permanent Mission of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Kabul, Afghanistan.

This was disclosed in a statement on Tuesday by the ministry spokesperson Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa.

The ministry stated that the expert in Political and Humanitarian Affairs reports to the Director-General of the Permanent Mission.

The role, which will be based in Kabul, Afghanistan, is aimed at supporting political dialogue, humanitarian coordination, and conflict resolution efforts in the war-torn country. It is open to experienced Nigerian professionals with backgrounds in political science, humanitarian affairs, international relations, or related fields.

According to the announcement, eligible applicants must have at least five years of relevant experience, including in areas such as political analysis, civil affairs, development planning, or peacebuilding. Advanced knowledge of international humanitarian principles, conflict dynamics, and inter-agency coordination is considered essential.

Fluency in English is required, while knowledge of regional languages such as Dari or Pashto would be an asset.

The position is being filled in partnership with the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), and it falls under the international category, meaning candidates will operate within UN salary and service conditions.

The Federal Government encouraged qualified Nigerians to apply and represent the country in global peace and development missions.
