The management of Enyimba International Football Club of Aba has issued a two-match ultimatum to the team’s Technical Adviser, Coach Stanley Eguma, to improve results or risk losing his job.
In a statement released on Monday, the club’s management expressed disappointment over the team’s recent poor performances in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), which have left the former champions languishing in the lower half of the table.
The management said the ultimatum was meant to “reawaken the competitive spirit” of the players and technical crew, stressing that Enyimba must return to winning ways if the club hopes to remain in contention for continental qualification.
“The management of Enyimba FC has given Coach Stanley Eguma two matches to turn things around. The club cannot continue to tolerate poor results from a team with such a strong tradition and passionate fan base,” the statement read.
According to reports, Eguma, who joined the People’s Elephant at the start of the 2025/2026 season, has struggled to deliver consistent performances despite a squad packed with experienced players. Enyimba have recorded just one win in their last six league matches, with back-to-back defeats against Rivers United and Shooting Stars further intensifying pressure on the coach.

Sources within the club said the management has already begun reviewing possible replacements should results not improve in the coming fixtures. However, they noted that the decision to issue the ultimatum was primarily aimed at motivating the team ahead of upcoming matches against Plateau United and Kwara United.
Reacting to the development, Coach Eguma said he remains confident of turning the team’s fortunes around, pledging to address tactical lapses and restore Enyimba’s attacking form. “We’ve had some tough results, but I believe in this squad. With hard work and focus, we will bounce back stronger,” he said.
Fans of the Aba-based club have voiced frustration over recent performances, calling for accountability and a renewed sense of urgency from both players and coaches. Many took to social media to express concern that the team’s current form could derail their title ambitions.
Enyimba, Nigeria’s most successful football club with nine NPFL titles, face Plateau United next weekend—a match now viewed as decisive for Eguma’s future at the club.
