Afrobeats superstar Davido has been officially welcomed as a voting member of the Recording Academy, the prestigious body behind the Grammy Awards.
As a voting member, Davido will participate in the decision-making process of the Grammy awards.
The Afrobeats star described his admission into the Recording Academy as “a gamechanger.”
The Recording Academy announced his inclusion in an Instagram post on Tuesday, sharing a video that also featured other new members such as Ravyn Lenae, Offset, Jessie Reyez, and Zac Brown Band.
As a voting member, Davido will have a direct influence on the nomination and final-ballot processes for the 2026 GRAMMYs, a notable achievement following his three nominations at the 2024 GRAMMY Awards.

I have learned that voting empowers you to have a say in what is considered and voted on in each season. I am honoured to be part of the Recording Academy community, and I look forward to voting.”
His inclusion aligns with the Academy’s ongoing efforts to diversify its membership, increasing representation from African artists and other international acts to better reflect the global music landscape.
The Recording Academy also announced that the voting period for the 2026 GRAMMYs will commence on October 3, urging members to “review the ballot, listen, and vote early.”
