Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has reportedly been arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force Cybercrime Centre in connection with a case believed to involve her colleague, Mercy Johnson.
The arrest was disclosed by filmmaker Seun Oloketuyi in a post shared on Instagram on Wednesday, January 28. According to him, the actress was apprehended at her residence in Lagos and subsequently taken to the police facility at Yaba Panti.
Oloketuyi explained that due to the late timing of the arrest, there was no available flight to Abuja, which resulted in Okorie spending the night in Lagos before being flown out the following morning.
He wrote:
“Angela Okorie was arrested yesterday at her residence in Lagos by the Nigeria Police Force Cybercrime Centre, Abuja. She spent the night at Yaba Panti because there was no available flight to Abuja at the time of her arrest. She was put on a 6am flight to Abuja this morning and is being taken there to face court proceedings connected to the cybercrime matter involving Mercy Johnson.”
Angela Okorie is expected to appear before a court in the Federal Capital Territory as investigations into the cybercrime case continue.
The arrest follows years of tension between Angela Okorie and Mercy Johnson, a feud that has been widely known among Nollywood fans and has repeatedly played out online.
Over time, Okorie had made several allegations against Mercy Johnson, including personal and spiritual claims that stirred public reactions and widespread debate on social media. In the past, the actress admitted that some of her statements were made during moments of anger and emotional distress, adding that she later reflected on the situation and regretted how her reactions escalated.
