Nigerian singer Asa has announced the death of her mother following a battle with a brain tumour.
The artiste, whose real name is Bukola Elemide, shared the news in an emotional post on Instagram on Tuesday, describing her late mother as the centre of her life and a constant source of support.
She revealed that the illness came suddenly and without warning, eventually leading to her mother’s death.
Asa paid tribute to her mother’s personality, highlighting her kindness, generosity, quiet nature, and sense of humour.
She also recalled how her mother remained her biggest supporter, often singing along to her songs with enthusiasm despite not being musically inclined.

The singer added that her mother’s strength, love, and spirit would continue to live on in her memory.
She wrote, “My mother, my reason to be, my queen, my everything.
“A sudden brain tumor came without warning and took you too soon. You were generous. The kindest soul.
“You had your own quiet swag, you were extremely shy, and so funny. My biggest fan.
“You couldn’t hold a note to save your life, but you sang every one of my songs with your whole heart.
Your strength, your love, your spirit will remain with me forever. Rest now, Mum. 💔🕊️.”
