The quarter-final line-up for the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025 has taken shape, with seven of the eight teams now confirmed following Algeria’s dramatic Round of 16 victory over DR Congo on Tuesday.

Algeria booked their place in the last eight with a narrow 1–0 win after extra time in Rabat. Substitute Anis Boulbina emerged as the hero, scoring the decisive goal in the 119th minute to send the Desert Foxes through.

The victory sets up a mouth-watering quarter-final clash against Nigeria.

Nigeria had earlier secured qualification on Monday night after a commanding 4–0 victory over Mozambique, with Victor Osimhen netting twice to inspire the Super Eagles’ progression.

Other teams that had already sealed quarter-final spots include Senegal, Mali, hosts Morocco, Cameroon and Egypt. Defending champions Côte d’Ivoire became the latest side to qualify after a dominant 3–0 win over Burkina Faso on Tuesday night in Marrakesh. Goals from Amad Diallo (20’), Yan Diomandé (32’) and Bamba Touré (87’) ensured a convincing performance from the Elephants as they continue their quest for back-to-back AFCON titles.
