General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, will lead a special prayer session dedicated to unmarried Nigerian youths, mature singles, and women waiting to conceive, as part of the church’s monthly Thanksgiving Service scheduled for Sunday.

The programme, billed to hold at RCCG’s national headquarters, The Throne of Grace, in Ebute-Metta, Lagos, will also be streamed live across the church’s platforms to accommodate participants nationwide and in the global RCCG network. Church authorities say the focus of the prayer is to seek divine intervention and provide spiritual support for thousands of individuals trusting God for marriage and children.

Announcing the event, the church described it as a “divinely inspired assignment” meant to bring hope, healing, and breakthrough to a growing demographic confronting both emotional and socio-economic pressures. A statement signed by senior church administrator, Pastor Oladele Balogun, noted that Pastor Adeboye will personally minister to attendees and lead intercessions specifically for marital settlement and fruitfulness.

“The church recognises that many of our youths and adults earnestly desire marriage and children. This service will be a spiritual channel for God’s intervention in their lives,” the statement said.

The announcement has already stirred engagement across social media, with many singles, parents, and young professionals expressing readiness to attend or join online. Some public figures and influencers, including celebrities, have openly shown interest, calling the programme timely.

Nigeria continues to record rising numbers of unmarried adults and delayed marriages a trend linked to diverse factors, including economic challenges, evolving cultural attitudes, rising costs of living, and shifting career priorities among youths. Analysts say the church’s intervention speaks to the emotional and spiritual needs of many young Nigerians navigating these uncertainties.

However, the event has also sparked discussions about the underlying issues facing young adults. Social commentators note that while spiritual support is meaningful, long-term solutions must also address unemployment, housing affordability, and financial stability key factors affecting marriage decisions.

Despite mixed public reactions, RCCG maintains that the service is open to all seekers of marital and family breakthroughs, regardless of denomination. The church says it expects massive turnout and encourages participants to approach the programme with faith and readiness for divine visitation.

As one of the most influential Christian leaders in Africa, Pastor Adeboye’s involvement is seen as a significant spiritual gesture toward addressing a growing social concern offering comfort, encouragement, and hope to millions who view marriage and parenthood as important milestones in their lives.
