Nigeria has commenced the export of locally manufactured solar panels to Ghana, marking a major milestone in the country’s renewable energy drive and regional trade expansion.
The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, disclosed the development on Wednesday, describing it as a significant breakthrough for Nigeria’s clean energy sector and industrial capacity.
According to the minister, the export initiative underscores the success of ongoing investments in local solar panel manufacturing and the government’s commitment to positioning Nigeria as a renewable energy hub in West Africa.
Adelabu noted that the panels, produced by Nigerian firms under strict quality and environmental standards, are already being supplied to energy projects in Ghana aimed at improving rural electrification and reducing carbon emissions.

“This achievement shows that Nigeria is not only meeting domestic renewable energy needs but also contributing to Africa’s sustainable energy future,” he stated.
He added that the Ministry of Power, in collaboration with private investors, will continue to support the expansion of local production capacity and the export of clean energy technologies to other African countries.
Experts say the move could open up new economic opportunities, enhance regional energy integration, and strengthen Nigeria’s leadership in the transition to green energy across the continent.
