Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has called on Nigerian girls to be bold, visionary, and unafraid to challenge societal limitations standing in the way of their dreams.
Speaking on Monday in Abuja at an event marking the International Day of the Girl Child, the Kogi Central senator urged young women to “be fearless, break barriers, and lead with confidence,” stressing that the future of Nigeria depends on the courage and innovation of its girls.
“Our girls must refuse to be defined by stereotypes or confined by fear,” she said. “You can be engineers, leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs. The world is waiting for your voice and brilliance.”
Senator Natasha, known for her advocacy for gender inclusion and social justice, said that true progress would only be achieved when Nigerian girls are given equal access to quality education, leadership opportunities, and safe spaces to express themselves. She encouraged them to embrace technology, develop new skills, and take an active role in shaping the country’s future.
“The girl child of today must not only dream big but act boldly,” she added. “We must dismantle systems that make our girls believe they are less capable. Empower them, and you empower the entire nation.”
The senator also called on parents, teachers, and community leaders to support girls’ education and discourage early marriage, which continues to limit the potential of millions of young women across the country.

“Every girl deserves a fair chance to learn, to lead, and to live free from discrimination or fear,” she said. “Let us give them wings to fly, not walls to climb.”
Participants at the event including students, women’s groups, and youth advocates applauded Senator Natasha’s message, describing it as a timely reminder of the power of resilience and self-belief in overcoming gender-based barriers.
Observers say her remarks align with global calls for renewed investment in girls’ education, digital inclusion, and leadership development, especially in Africa.
With her speech resonating widely on social media, Senator Natasha’s message “Be fearless, break barriers” has become a rallying cry for young Nigerian girls determined to redefine their future and rewrite the story of womanhood in Africa.
