Nigerian Air Force Opens Recruitment for 2025 Airmen & Airwomen

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has officially announced the commencement of online applications for its Basic Military Training Course (BMTC 46/2025), inviting eligible Nigerians to join the force as airmen and airwomen.

According to a statement released by the NAF on Sunday, the application process begins on October 14, 2025, and will close on November 25, 2025.

Interested applicants are directed to complete their registration via the official recruitment portal — www.nafrecruitment.airforce.mil.ng.

The NAF emphasised that the entire application process is free of charge, cautioning prospective candidates to beware of fraudsters or anyone requesting payment for recruitment assistance. The Air Force also assured transparency and fairness throughout the exercise.

“The Nigerian Air Force remains committed to ensuring equal opportunity for all eligible Nigerians who wish to serve their country with pride and professionalism. The recruitment process is entirely free, and selection will be based strictly on merit,” the statement read.

On completion of the application forms, NAF said applicants must print out the acknowledgement, parent and guardians consent, and local government area attestation forms.

The forms are to be signed as required by a military officer from the applicant’s state, not below the rank of wing commander in the Nigerian Air Force or equivalent in the Nigerian Army and Nigerian Navy; a police officer of the rank of chief superintendent of police and above; a substantive local government chairman or secretary; and magistrates from the applicant’s state of origin.

It explained further that the Local Government Area Attestation Form must be accompanied by the passport photograph and photocopy of the signee’s driver’s licence or national ID card, or international passport.

The Basic Military Training Course is designed for young Nigerians seeking to build a career in the Air Force through intensive physical, academic, and character development programs. Successful applicants will undergo rigorous training in various fields, preparing them for both combat and non-combat roles within the NAF.

The NAF further encouraged applicants to ensure they meet the stated eligibility requirements, which include age, educational qualifications, and physical fitness standards, as incomplete or false applications will be automatically disqualified.

“Applicants must carefully follow all instructions on the portal and ensure the accuracy of their personal and academic details before submission,” the statement added.

Eligibility

Applicants must be Nigerian citizens.

Applicants must not be less than 1.66m tall for males and not less than 1.63m tall for females.

Applicants must be medically, physically and psychologically fit and must meet the Nigerian Air Force medical and employment standards.

For candidates applying for non-tradesmen/women, they must be between the ages of 18 and 22 years at the time of application.

Applicants must possess a minimum of five credits, including Mathematics and English Language, in not more than 2 sittings in WAEC/NECO/GCE/NABTEB/NBAIS.

In addition, applicants are required to possess their secondary school’ testimonials.

For tradesmen/women, applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 27 years at the time of application.

Applicants with ND/NCE must possess at least lower credit from accredited institutions and must possess a minimum of five credits, including Mathematics and English, in not more than two sittings in WAEC/NECO/GCE/NABTEB/NBAIS.

Applicants applying as drivers and other trades that require a trade test must possess a minimum of five credits, including Mathematics and English, in not more than 2 sittings in WAEC/NECO/GCE/NABTEB/NBAIS, in addition to their trade test certificate and a valid driving licence for drivers.

In addition to the five credits requirement in SSCE, applicants applying as sportsmen/women are to present evidence of their professional experience, which should include certificates and medals.

NAF said applicants must be free of any previous conviction(s) on criminal grounds by a court of law.

It added that the zonal general aptitude test for successful candidates will be held on a date to be conveyed on its recruitment portal.
