Nigerian activist and social media critic, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM) has brushed aside recent prophecies predicting his death, urging the prophets involved to channel their visions towards national development instead.
Two clergymen , one Nigerian and the other, a Ghanaian , had publicly claimed to have received divine revelations about imminent danger over VDM’s life.
One of the unidentified prophets, in a video while addressing his congregation, said in Yoruba: “There are activists in this country that they will soon end in Nigeria. One of the activists will be imprisoned. The other one will be killed because they said they have nothing to lose.”
The second prophet said: “This is for VDM. Bad politicians have taken him to a river. VDM is dead in the river but still alive in the physical world. And it’s very bad for your face to be inside a river. Whether VDM likes it or not, he will leave the world unexpectedly.”
Reacting in a video posted on his social media page, the outspoken critic said he was unfazed by the warnings, insisting that death is inevitable for everyone.
“You heard the pastor, although he didn’t mention my name, but he made reference to what I usually say, which is I have nothing to lose. That’s number one.
“You are seeing vision for me as if I’m one person that sees himself to be important. I’m not important. Death is inevitable and is coming for all of us.” he said
He further challenged the prophets to focus their spiritual gifts on issues that could transform Nigeria, rather than making personal predictions about him.
“Tell us a vision about our country. Tell us when Nigeria will be a great country”, he added.
Due to his daring confrontations and his tendency to take strong positions on controversial issues, VDM has crossed paths with many. He is currently in court on sundry issues, and his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, recently cautioned him to be mindful of what he says and how he confronts people.
VDM, known for his bold takes on political and social issues, maintained that such prophecies do not distract him from his advocacy.
