Rashford ready to accept 40% pay cut to join Barcelona

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford is prepared to take a significant pay cut, reportedly up to 40%, in order to facilitate a move to FC Barcelona this summer, according to multiple reports.

The 27-year-old England international has been given the green light by Manchester United to explore a move away from Old Trafford, with the club said to be open to a £40 million transfer fee. Rashford, who currently earns approximately £370,000 per week, is willing to reduce his wages to around £225,000–£250,000 per week to make the transfer financially viable for the cash-strapped Spanish side.

Barcelona, still operating under the constraints of La Liga’s financial fair play regulations, are reportedly interested in signing Rashford on an initial loan deal with an option to buy. However, United are pushing for a permanent transfer, hoping to secure a full fee this summer.

Sources close to the situation indicate Rashford has prioritized a move to Camp Nou, even instructing his representatives to focus on a deal with Barça despite interest from other clubs. The player is also reportedly willing to wait until the end of the transfer window if necessary, demonstrating his strong desire to join the Catalan giants.

Rashford spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa, where he recorded four goals and six assists in 17 appearances, performances that appear to have reignited interest in the forward from top clubs across Europe.

While Rashford remains keen on the move, Barcelona officials are proceeding with caution. The club is evaluating its attacking options, with other targets like Luis Díaz also under consideration. Sporting director Deco recently emphasized that Barça will only pursue signings that represent clear improvements to the current squad.
