Lalit Patidar, an 18-year-old Indian, has been recognised by Guinness World Records for having the hairiest face on a person.
Patidar’s rare condition, known as hypertrichosis or “werewolf syndrome,” causes an abnormal amount of hair growth.
According to Guinness World Records, his face is covered with an astonishing 201.72 hairs per square centimeter, with over 95% of his face covered in hair.
“Over 95% of his face is covered in hair. He has an incredibly rare condition called hypertrichosis, also known as werewolf syndrome, which causes an abnormal amount of hair growth. Lalit is one of only around 50 documented cases reported worldwide since the middle ages, making him one in a BILLION. And he’s certainly a special guy.
He’s overcome all of the stares from strangers and nasty comments you’d sadly imagine he would have received. The other kids at school were even scared of him when he showed up for his first day”, according to the GWR website.

The teenager, who has faced ridicule and stares from others, has shown remarkable resilience and has chosen to embrace his unique condition.
He said: “They were scared of me, but when they started knowing me and talking to me they understood I was not so different from them, and it was just on the outside that I looked different, but I’m not different inside.”
Patidar’s achievement was officially recognised after he appeared on the Italian television show “Lo Show dei Record,” where his facial hair was measured to determine if he would set the record.
With only around 50 documented cases of hypertrichosis worldwide since the Middle Ages, Patidar’s condition is extremely rare.
His recognition by Guinness World Records has brought attention to this unusual condition and serves as a testament to the importance of self-acceptance and embracing one’s uniqueness.
