The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday passed a vote of confidence on President Bola Tinubu, affirming his leadership and the performance of his administration.
This came during the APC’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, where the President expressed his determination to work harder for Nigeria’s greater good, assuring that the nation’s economy was on the path to recovery.
In his remarks, President Tinubu thanked the party’s highest decision-making organ for their support, describing the vote of confidence as both an honor and a challenge to do even more. He pledged to continue his focus on the country’s economic recovery and national development.
“I am happy with your vote of confidence, and I accept it. The vote is a challenge to do more work; we will vigorously pursue our sovereignty in food security, investment, and development,” President Tinubu stated.
He also expressed satisfaction with the recent decline in food prices, especially with Ramadan approaching, and highlighted the nation’s economic progress. “I am happy with food prices coming down, especially as Ramadan approaches. The Sun is high, and the sky is bright outside. While the rest of the world unravels, we see growth in Nigeria. We are seeing a gradual return to stability. We are seeing improvements. I thank you, governors,” the President said.
Tinubu also took the opportunity to thank Nigerians for their continued trust in the APC, and pledged to continue working diligently with other arms of government to ensure the greater good for all Nigerians.
“I’m grateful to all Nigerians for the electoral successes recorded from one state to the other. Governors, you have embraced these changes, and I thank the leadership of our party. I also thank members of the National Assembly for expeditiously considering the budget,” he added.
The President emphasized that the APC’s strength lies in its progressive platform, stating, “We can only build the party on a progressive platform to deliver good service to Nigerians.”
In his address, the President also commended the APC National Working Committee for its efforts but acknowledged the need to address some crises in various states.

“The National Working Committee is doing a very good job; I am pleased with them. However, there are a few conflicts in the various states. Let’s set up committees to look into the lingering problems in the states and appeal to these party leaders in various states to please be calm and be collaborative,” President Tinubu said.
The APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, also addressed the meeting, thanking party members for their steadfastness in the face of challenges. He assured them that the party would continue to deliver on its electoral promises.
“Though the journey has been very challenging for us as a ruling party, given the big task we have at hand and the expectations from Nigerians, we can sufficiently submit that we have collectively risen to the occasion and challenges,” Ganduje said.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio reaffirmed the National Assembly’s commitment to supporting President Tinubu’s administration in lifting the country from its economic and developmental challenges.
“The Senate will expeditiously pass bills that would enhance our national development, improve the economy and redirect our national pathway,” Akpabio said.
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, also praised the President for his vision and courage in making essential but sometimes unpopular decisions. “The decisions were pivotal for Nigeria’s developmental efforts,” Abbas said.
The NEC meeting followed a party caucus meeting on Tuesday night, where APC leaders also commended President Tinubu’s administration for turning the economy around. The country’s GDP grew by 3.84 percent in the last quarter of 2024, and inflation has been trending downward, signaling a positive shift for the nation’s economic health.
As the APC continues to rally behind President Tinubu, the party appears focused on further strengthening Nigeria’s economic recovery and ensuring the stability of its governance systems.
